MODERN A CAPPELLA

Postyr
A Cappella 3.0

New Songs - New Sounds

This is what it sounds like when innovation meets emotion. Feel the connection and experience the beauty of the art of modern singing.

POSTYR have been touring the world since 2009, gaining international recognition for their distinctive and evocative sound that combines 5 captivating vocals with electro beats and heartfelt songwriting. POSTYR consists of 5 singers, 1 laptop, an array of sound-controlled lights and electronics, and was born out of a desire and ambition to innovate and develop contemporary vocal music through newly composed music written specifically for this type of ensemble, thus the name POSTYR, which is Danish for “disturbance”/”Störung”

POSTYR has just returned from an extensive tour of China and in the coming year POSTYR will be touring Denmark and abroad, including Hungary and Germany.

The singers in POSTYR grew up singing choral music, and they met each other through the inspiring musical environment of the award-winning vocal group Vox 11 and the world-renowned Danish choir, Vocal Line.

Tine Fris-Ronsfeld, soprano, Sørine Bager, alto, Andreas Bech, tenor, Anders Hornshøj Laugesen, baritone and Kristoffer Fynbo Thorning, bass and laptop.

REVIEWs

“FOOTPRINTS” - Recording A Cappella Review Board, RARB: 5/5 stars

‘The tracks that garner a ‘5’ are more like a ‘5!’ because of how unified the musical approach to conveying emotion is executed’ - Kyle Yampori, RARB

“Original music is such a delight in the a cappella world, and Postyr always brings new ideas to the table. Footprints, the latest album from this Danish collective, delivers the goods.” - Rebecca Christie, RARB

“Postyr has always walked the edge between a cappella group and electronic vocal-centric band. The group's gorgeous blend, easy homophony, and profound musical connection give this ensemble a folk rock quality. But underlying and perhaps joyfully "undermining" the purity and simplicity of the group's sound is Kristoffer Fynbo Thorning. With his hand in all things electronic, Thorning introduces elements of processing, distortion, and electronic drumming that defy the near-Carpenters-esque smoothness that the vocals alone deliver. And when those two divergent energies are in balance, the group seems most contemporary in its musical language and emotional impact.” - Jonathan Minkoff, RARB

“PAPER TIGER” - “Nordjyske Stiftstidende 5/6 stars”

‘Postyr (...) is a kind of acapella-plus experience - in the sense that the individual songs could easily have been a beautiful interplay between four extremely melodious voices for long stretches - and only that. And then the ‘electronics’ are added as an extra treat. Fris, Groth, Laugesen and Thorning's ability to both ring and swing is evident in a song like ‘Strive to Fly (Little Wing), filled as it is with powerful acapella elements. The many breathtaking harmonies that characterise ‘Paper Tiger’ from beginning to end are one thing - but at the same time, Postyr has an exceptionally good ear for the catchy chorus and the many small, fine details throughout the songs, so the only thing you really want to do after listening to the last of 11 tracks is to start over. Not a little addictive. Overall, ‘Paper Tiger’ has something as rare as a crystal-clear lightness and grace - and at the same time a pleasant musical weight.’
